The Isles of Scilly are like nowhere else in England. An outstandingly beautiful cluster of islands off the coast of Cornwall, Scilly is a world apart from every day life.

Bryher is the smallest of the inhabited islands of the Isles of Scilly. Just one and half miles long by half a mile wide, its coast line is remarkably varied. Described by many as an island of contrasts, the east coast overlooks the sheltered waters of the channel between Bryher and Tresco while the rugged west coast faces the full force of the open Atlantic Ocean making Hell Bay the perfect place for storm watching on a blustery day.

Bryher is a friendly island with a small hard working community of approximately 85 people, and can offer the visitor a range of facilities from the 4 star, award winning Hell Bay hotel (open to non residents) and Crab Shack, a cafe, a bar, a shop with bakery (offering a grocery order and free delivery service for those staying in self catering accommodation) and post-office; to local produce stalls and boat and kayak hire - what else do you need? Almost like a step back in time, there is a strong community spirit here, with everyone looking out for each other, and children running free, enjoying a childhood of den building and bike riding that is sadly diminishing on the mainland.

The island’s roads are little more than tracks, and there is minimal traffic save for the occasional tractor or Landrover – you can follow the coastal path around the varied shore visiting the gorgeous beaches (Rushy Bay is a must with fine white sand and crystal clear water) or take a hike up one of the hills to enjoy amazing panoramic views across Scilly and out to Bishop Rock Lighthouse.

Bryher is a great place to escape to at any time of the year, but if you are considering a winter break, please be aware that most facilities may be closed or on limited hours. Tresco Boat Services run all year round, but service may be limited. Bryher Shop is open year round, but on reduced hours from November to March.
